Wednesday's soccer matches changed to scrimmages

ORANGE, Calif. - Chapman University's men's and women's soccer teams - originally scheduled to open the 2011 season on Wednesday - will instead scrimmage their opponents per NCAA rules. The NCAA Division III restricts soccer teams from playing prior to Sept. 1.

The Chapman men will still host Whittier College in a 'friendly' on Wednesday at Wilson Field at 5 p.m. Their 2011 campaign will officially begin on Friday when the Panthers square off against Fontbonne College (Mo.) on the campus of Cal Lutheran University.

The Panther women will scrimmage Hope International University on Wednesday in their final tune-up before opening the season at home against Emory University (Ga.) on Saturday at 11 a.m.
