Men's soccer alumnus makes it pro

ORANGE, Calif. – Former Chapman University men's soccer player Brandon Young '07 has been named to the roster of Orange County's own professional indoor soccer team the Anaheim Bolts. The Bolts begin the 2011 season in the Professional Arena Soccer League on Nov. 12 and will play their home games at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Young, a midfielder for the Panthers from 2004-06, helped Chapman to a 10-7-1 record as a senior in '06 when he tied for the team lead with five assists and was second on the team with nine goals, including a pair of game-winners. For his career, Young totaled 12 goals and eight assists for 32 points.

"This is a goal I set for myself; I'm so happy to be here," Young told the Orange County Register. "Now that I've made it to this level, I just want to keep improving so I can contribute to this team's success."

According to the Register, the Bolts are an expansion team in the 3-year-old Professional Arena Soccer League. More than half of Anaheim's roster comes from Orange County, including Young who attended Brea Olinda High School before graduating from Chapman.
