Onorati named to Capital One Academic All-District first team

ORANGE, Calif. –  Chapman University men's soccer senior defender Francesco Onorati has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is the second-straight season that Chapman has had an All-District men's soccer selection with Chris Duran earning the award in 2011. Onorati joins three other players from the SCIAC on the All-District team.

This season, the Los Angeles, Calif. native played in 19 games including a career-high 17 starts and logged over a 1,000 minutes played. Onorati played an integral role on a Chapman defense that had five shutouts which ranked third in the SCIAC, and he also added one goal and one assist on the season.

Onorati, a psychology major with a 3.84 cumulative grade-point average over his four seasons, is a first-time recipient of an All-District selection.

The Capital One Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes in 12 sports annually. To be eligible, students must be varsity starters or key reserves, maintain a grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, and hold at least a sophomore standing. Chapman is a member of District VIII, which includes Division III schools from throughout the Western United States.
