Echeverry earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors

ORANGE, Calif. – After leading the Chapman University men's soccer team on a three-game winning streak, senior F Nick Echeverry was named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6. Echeverry tallied two goals on the week, including the game-winner against Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday.

The Anaheim, Calif. native is the only Panther who has started all 12 matches this season and he currently leads the team in every major offensive category, including goals (7), assists (3), shots (37), shots on goal (19) and game-winning goals (3). The seven goals mark the most in a single season since his freshman campaign and equal his combined total over the last two seasons in 30 games, 24 starts.

With his first career SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor, Echeverry joins women's volleyball player Val Geiger (twice) as the only Panthers to earn the recognition this season.
