Panthers continue to outscore with high energy offense

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's soccer team defeated Caltech 3-0 on Saturday night at Wilson Field. The Panthers (8-5-3 overall, 7-4-1 SCIAC) move into fourth place in SCIAC with Saturday's victory.

In the 28th minute, junior Daniel Malikyar connected on a corner kick cross with junior Connor Tobia who found the back of the net on a header to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The goal was Tobia's second of the season and first career game-winning goal.

The Panthers tacked on another goal with ten minutes left in the first, when senior Gino Belassen played through a heavily guarded Caltech defense to score from 20-yards out to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.  

In the second half, junior Marco Saglimbeni crossed from the left corner to sophomore Elliot Braund who maneuvered past a Caltech defender to score and give the Panthers the 3-0 victory.

Chapman senior GK Nick Berardi moved to 2-3-2 at the season with Saturday night's victory.

Chapman will take its next two matches to the road beginning with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. followed by Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7p.m.
