Saglimbeni, Braund selected to NSCAA All-Region team

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Marco Saglimbeni and junior Elliott Braund continued the fall awards season with All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Second Team honors were the second All-Region honors of Saglimbeni's career while Braund's Third Team nod was his first regional honor.

Saglimbeni added to his growing legacy with yet another award to add to his resume. The Panthers' captain from San Jose, Calif., is a three-time All-SCIAC selection, two-time All-Region selection and two-time Academic All-American. He is the fifth leading goal scorer in Chapman history and capped his career by helping the Panthers to their first NCAA Tournament win since 1998.

The Panthers' mainstay in the midfield played in more matches (83) than anyone else in Chapman men's soccer history, scoring 29 goals and distributing 12 assists. He found the back of the net eight times this season and equaled his career-best with five assists. He scored three game-winners while logging almost 77 minutes per match.

Braund earned his second career All-SCIAC selection after a stellar season. The midfielder from Winchester, England, tied for the team lead with eight goals this year, including five game-winners. He fired in the game-winner and only goal of the Panther's 1-0 win over UT-Dallas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He also had an assist this season while starting in 18 matches. Braund's five game-winners tied for the third-most in Chapman history for a single season.

With Saglimbeni and Braund's selections to the NSCAA All-West Region team, the Panthers have had at least one All-Region player in six of the last eight year. This is the second year in a row where Chapman was placed a player on both the Second Team and Third Team.
