Four men’s soccer players receive All-SCIAC honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Four members of the Chapman University men's soccer team were named to the All-SCIAC Team on Tuesday. Headlining the selections were senior Elliott Braund and junior Kai Howe who were both named to the first team.

Two more Panthers earned second team honors. Senior Sean Augustine received the selection for the second year in a row, while sophomore Jarod Matteoni was recognized for his work on the back line for Chapman.

Bruand is no stranger to the All-SCIAC list. This is his third All-SCIAC selection and second consecutive appearance on the first team. After transferring in as a sophomore, he has been named to the All-SCIAC selections in every season as a Panther. In his final season he leads the team and ranks tied for second in the SCIAC in goals with eight, tying his career-high from last year.

The Winchester, England native has started in every game this season. On top of his eight goals, he has also recorded one assist this season, ranking tied for second in the SCIAC and leading the Panthers with 17 points.

Howe leads the SCIAC and Chapman with 63 shots, converting five of those to goals. The junior has proven to be clutch in his first year as a Panther, scoring three game-winning goals this season, including netting the only goal in Chapman's 1-0 victory over La Verne on senior night. The Tokyo, Japan native has started every game of his career as a Panther and ranks third on the squad with 12 points.

Augustine holds top spots on the SCIAC leaderboard in his final season as a Panther. The Anaheim Hills, Calif. native is having a career-best year, ranking first and setting career-highs in both save percentage (.849) and goals-against average (0.73). His numbers in both of these categories put him on track to etch his name in the Chapman record books. The senior ranks third in saves the SCIAC, recording 62 saves this year. He is just 10 saves shy of entering the top-5 for saves in a single season at Chapman.

This is Matteoni's second year as a Panther and first All-SCIAC selection. The defender has been rock-solid on the back line, starting in every game he has appeared in this season. He has recorded two assists, including the assist to the only goal scored in a 1-0 victory over La Verne the first time they faced off this season. The San Jose, Calif. native has helped the Panthers to seven shutouts and nine SCIAC wins this season.
