Men’s and women’s soccer earn Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches Association recognized the Team Academic Award winners earlier this morning. Both men's and women's Chapman soccer programs were selected for the prestigious award.

Under head coach Eddie Carrillo, the men's program posted a team GPA of 3.18 in the 2017-18 academic year. This is the second year in a row the men have been awarded Team Academic accolades. In addition to the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches Association, the Panthers had 10 members of the squad on the 2017-18 SCIAC All-Academic Team.

For the ninth time since 1996, the women's program earned the Team Academic Award after posting a 3.53 GPA under head coach Courtney Calderon. The Panthers were also recognized by the conference as 18 student-athletes earned a spot on the SCIAC All-Academic Team.

A total of 773 collegiate teams (289 men, 484 women) earned the Team Academic Award, and the Panthers were one of 191 schools who had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients.
