Siemonsma earns SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. - Freshman Chandler Siemonsma earned SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after he helped the Chapman University men's soccer team to a 2-0 record in a week where the squad needed positive results to stay in the running for a spot in the postseason.

The Panthers' wins against Pomona-Pitzer and La Verne helped them earn the No. 4 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament with an 8-6 conference record. Siemonsma contributed six saves against the Leopards and two saves against the Sagehens while also earning his third shutout of the season in the Panthers' 2-0 victory over La Verne. The freshman currently leads the team and ranks second in the SCIAC with a 0.64 goals-against average.

The Panthers head to No. 1-seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7pm for the semifinal match.
