Mattoeni, Tipp earn All-SCIAC honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Two members of the Chapman men's soccer team earned All-SCIAC honors earlier this morning. Senior Jarod Matteoni earned First Team honors for the first time in his career while fellow senior Jonah Tipp landed a spot on the Second Team.

The two captains helped lead the Panthers to a 5-7 record in SCIAC play and a fifth place finish in the conference standings.

Matteoni is no stranger to All-SCIAC selections, as he earned Second Team honors in both his sophomore and junior campaigns. The defender helped Chapman post four shutouts this season as he anchored the back line. Mattoeni scored a career-high three goals this season, all of them coming against SCIAC opponents. The San Jose, Calif. also tallied three assists in his final season and notched the game-winner against Caltech to lift the Panthers to victory in overtime.

Tipp earned his second career All-SCIAC award, this year earning a spot on the Second Team. The Woodland Hills, Calif. native has been a staple in Chapman's midfield as a four-year starter. He tallied his lone assist this season in a tough 3-2 overtime loss at Whittier. Tipp's dominant presence in the middle of the field helped the Panthers to five conference victories this season.

The Panthers graduated nine seniors this season, inlcuding Mattoeni and Tipp, and return to Wilson
Field next year for the 2020 season.
