Bio

Jose Vasquez joined the Chapman coaching staff in 2018, helping the Panthers to a SCIAC Tournament championship in his first year. Vasquez, who is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame at Santa Ana College for his playing days, is also the Head Coach at Santa Ana College and has led the Dons to a National Championship, two State Championships and eight Orange Empire Conference Championships.

In 2004, Vasquez was named the NSCAA's West Region Coach of the Year as well as the National Coach of the Year following an undefeated season and top national ranking. Prior to taking over the head coaching duties, Vasquez spent 11 seasons as an assistant coach at Santa Ana College. During that span, Santa Ana won one national title, four state titles and a record 10 consecutive conference titles.

Vasquez played at Santa Ana in 1989-90 and set multiple scoring records. He still currently holds three records at Santa Ana including fastest goal (10 seconds), hat tricks (4) and goals in a game (7). Vasquez was inducted into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 for his impressive playing career.

After playing at Santa Ana, Vasquez played for a variety of professional soccer teams including: Club Guadalajara Chivas in 1991; Atlas, Rojinegros in 1992; L.A. Salsa in 1993-94; Pueblo, Camoteros in 1995; Celaya, Puebla in 1995; Anaheim Splash in 1995; Los Angeles Galaxy in 1996-99; Orange County Zodiac in 1997 and 1999; Orange County Waves in 2000.

Previous to coaching at Santa Ana College , Vasquez led Santa Ana High School to its first-ever CIF championship in 1991. He also coached Orange High School to a CIF championship in 1995.

Vazquez is also the Club Technical Director for OC Surf.
