Men't tennis competes at Ojai Tournament

OJAI, Calif. – Three members of the Chapman University men's tennis team competed at the Ojai Tournament last weekend. Senior Josh Sarsfield played in the singles bracket while senior Charlie Werman and sophomore Mathew Mead played doubles.

Sarsfield fell 6-2, 6-2 in his opening match against UC Santa Cruz's Sean Hollister but rrebounded in the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Redlands' Joey Dulle. In the consolation quarterfinals, Sarsfield traded 6-2 sets with Occidental's Cameron Coe but came up injured with the third set tied 9-9 and had to withdraw.

Werman and Mead fell 8-2 in their opening match against a duo from Cal Lutheran. The faced a Pomona-Pitzer team in the consolation bracket but dropped the match 8-4.

The Panthers head to the SCIAC Tournament this week as the No. 6 seed. They will take on Pomona-Pitzer in the first round on Friday at 1 p.m.
