Kang picks up win but men's tennis drops dual to CNU

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell 8-1 to No. 30 Christopher Newport on Thursday at Lastinger Tennis Center. Freshman Terry Kang pulled out the singles win to avoid the shutout.

Kang's win came at No. 6 and was the last match to finish. With both teams watching and cheering every point, Kang pulled out the win in a third set super tiebreaker 6-3, 6-7 (7-5), 1-0 (10-8) and moved to 2-0 on the season in the No. 6 spot in the lineup.

The Captains pulled out straight set victories in the four singles matches and swept the doubles matches to clinch the win early. Freshman Jacob Lee pulled out a first set win in a tiebreaker but CNU's David Reed won the second set to force the super tiebreaker where Lee fell 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 1-0 (10-5).

The Panthers remain home to take on Case Western Reserve on Saturday at 1 p.m.
