Men's tennis suffers 6-3 loss to Trinity (Conn.)

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to visiting Trinity (Conn.) on Thursday. The Panthers pushed up and down the lineup but came out on the wrong end of several tiebreakers.

The No. 2 doubles squad of sophomore Len Kamemoto and junior Matthew Mead captured the Panthers' fist point in the middle doubles match. However, the Bantams grabbed the other two matches to take a 2-1 lead.

Freshman Troy Manditch grabbed a three-set win in the No. 3 singles match to grab another point for the Panthers. He won 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 for his first collegiate win. Junior Igor Belineli improved to 3-3 on the season with a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-8) win at No. 4.

Freshman Jacob Lee pushed Trinity's Rex Glickman in the No. 1 singles match, losing the second set in a tiebreaker and the match 6-1, 7-6. Sophomore Len Kamemoto began the No. 2 match with first set tiebreaker but ultimately fell 7-6, 6-2. Freshman Terry Kang also fell victim to a tiebreaker in the second set as Trinity narrowly walked away with the 6-3 win.

The Panthers are back at Lastinger Tennis Center tomorrow to take on Lake Forest at 5 p.m.
