Men's tennis downs Whitworth

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team defeated the Whitworth Pirates 7-2 in an intense match on Wednesday evening at the Lastinger Tennis Center. The Panthers went undefeated in doubles and took four out of six singles from the Pirates.

Chapman dominated Whitworth's doubles teams by sweeping them 3-0. Freshman Jacob Lee and junior Brock DeHaven as well as Troy Manditch and Darrus Lee each defeated their Pirate opponents by a score of 8-4. The No. 2 team of Matthew Mead and Len Kamemoto were nearly perfect as they won their singles match 8-1.

Lee also played well in his singles match defeating Jake Bethards by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Senior Rasmus Helms defeated his opponent, Nick Hughes, in straight sets.

Chapman has now taken three of their last 4 matches and hope to bring that hot play into the final stretch of the season as they head into their last six games, all of which are SCIAC opponents. The Panthers will take the court tomorrow as they take on CMS on the road at 2 p.m.
