Lee earns solo victory in men’s tennis loss

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team dropped a match to Cal Lutheran earlier this afternoon at Lastinger Tennis Center. Freshman Jacob Lee won the only match for the Panthers, beating his opponent 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 1 singles court.

Chapman went down 3-0 early after all three doubles teams lost their matches. Sophomore Len Kamemoto and junior Matthew Mead dropped their doubles match 8-2 on the No. 1 court, while Lee and junior partner Brock DeHaven also lost 8-2 on the No. 2 court. Freshman Blake Wilcox and sophomore Darrus Lee put up a strong fight against their opponents on court No. 3 but lost a close 8-5 match.

Wilcox and senior Rasmus Helms took both of their respective singles matches to tie-breakers, with Wilcox losing 4-6, 6-2, 1-6 on the No. 6 court and Helms taking a 2-6, 7-5, 0-1 (10-12) loss on court No. 5. Junior Igor Belineli dropped his singles match 3-6, 2-6 on court No. 4 while DeHaven lost 4-6, 4-6 on court No. 3.

Chapman returns home to Lastinger Tennis Center tomorrow, April 7 at 10 a.m. to face off against Redlands in another SCIAC matchup.
