Men's tennis competes at ITA West Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team was represented in the semifinals of two brackets at the ITA West Regionals. The Panthers sent a singles player into a semifinals match as well as making the doubles semifinal in the Flight A consolation bracket.

Sophomore Blake Wilcox played his way through the Flight C backet to qualify for the semifinals. He took a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win in the opening match and won 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal but fell in straight sets in the semis.

Senior Matthew Mead and junior Len Kamemoto won their first match 8-3 in the Flight A doubles bracket but fell in the round of 32.They advanced by default into the quarterfinals of the Flight A consolation bracket. The duo won 8-2 before falling to a pair from Colorado College 8-3 in the semifinal. Kamemoto also won a singles match in the Flight B consolation match.

Freshman Adrian Rooney won his first match as a Panther by clinching on a tiebreaker in the second set. In the round of 16, he took the first set on another tiebreaker but dropped the second and third sets as his tournament run came to an end.

The Panthers wrapped up their fall season at the annual fall tournament but return to the Lastinger Tennis Center in the spring.
