Men’s tennis falls to Hobart

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell 7-2 to the visiting Hobart Statesmen on Monday afternoon. Sophomore Jacob Lee and senior Brock DeHaven scored the Panthers' only two points in the effort.

After dropping all three doubles matches, Chapman quickly fell to a 3-0 deficit heading into the singles matches.

Junior Len Kamemoto put up a fight on the No. 1 court, forcing a tiebreaker in the first set. He eventually fell 6-7 (3-7), 2-6 on the top court. Freshman Adrien Rooney fell on the No. 2 court 1-6, 4-6, while freshman Luke Bennett fell 3-6, 4-6 on the No. 4 court and senior Matthew Mead fell 1-6, 3-6 on the fifth court.

Lee rolled past his opponent 6-0, 6-0 on the No. 3 court while DeHaven battled against his opponent to get the 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory, but it was not enough to continue the Panthers' three-match win streak.

Chapman takes a week off for Spring Break but returns to Lastinger Tennis Center on Sunday, March 24 to host UC Santa Cruz at 1 p.m.
