Mead, DeHaven notch doubles victory on senior day

ORANGE, Calif. – Seniors Matthew Mead and Brock DeHaven notched a doubles victory to help celebrate their final home match in the Panther uniform. The doubles partners scored one of Chapman's two points as the Panthers fell to the visiting Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 7-2.

The seniors came from behind on the No. 3 court to beat their opponents 8-6. Junior Len Kamemoto and freshman Adrien Rooney fell 8-4 on the No. 1 court while doubles partners Jacob Lee and Luke Bennett fell 8-3 on the middle court.

Rooney earned the Panthers' second point as he defeated his singles opponent 6-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) on the No. 2 court. Lee took to the No. 1 court but fell 1-6, 2-6 and Kamemoto fell 0-6, 1-6 on the third court.

Senior Igor Belineli took to the No. 4 court in his final match for the Panthers but fell 5-7, 2-6 in a hard-fought match. Mead and DeHaven competed on the No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts respectively. Mead clawed his way back in the second set but fell 2-6, 5-7 and DeHaven fell 3-6, 2-6 on the final court.

The Panthers head to Redlands tomorrow, April 20 at 10 a.m. for their final match of the 2019 season.
