Wilkins, Blinder selected to All-SCIAC team
ORANGE, Calif. – Sophomores Caleb Wilkins and Josh Blinder are the Chapman University men's tennis All-SCIAC picks for the 2021 SCIAC series. The duo played all four matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots in the lineup.
The Panthers played Cal Lutheran four times as the only two SCIAC teams to field a team this year. All four matches were decided by a final score of 5-4 with Cal Lutheran winning the series 3-1.
Wilkins led off the singles and doubles lineups all season long. He went 3-1 in singles matches in the four-match series to lead the Panthers. Wilkins and Blinder played together at No. 1 doubles but went 0-2 in the first two matches. For the final two matches, Wilkins played with junior Harry Cohen and went 2-0. In the Panthers' win, it was Wilkins who clinched the match with a three-set win.
Blinder went 2-2 in conference matches, finishing the series with back-to-back wins in the No. 3 match. In his first match at No. 2 doubles with teammate Mason Marks, the duo took a key 8-7 victory to help the Panthers to the team win.
The Panthers finished the shortened season 1-5 but will return in 2022 for a full season.
