Wilkins goes 2-1 at ITA Cup

ROME, Ga. – Senior Caleb Wilkins went 2-1 at ITA Cup over the weekend to boost his national profile. Wilkins was the first Chapman men's tennis player to compete at the national tournament.

The ITA Cup brought 16 of the top tennis players from across the region together in Rome, Ga. After falling in his first match, Wilkins won his next two matches in the consolation bracket.

Wilkins first played Bowdoin's Tristan Bradley, who he defeated last spring in a dual match. Bradley took the rematch 6-4, 6-4 and then went on to the national championship match, where he lost to CMS' Advik Mareedu in three sets.

Wilkins rebounded with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Trinity University's Alessio Azzalini. He next faced NJCU's Nicolas Teynie for his final match of the national tournament. After dropping the first set 6-1, Wilkins recovered and forced a third set with a 6-4 win. The tight match needed extra points and Wilkins emerged victorious – 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).

The fall season wrapped up with the ITA Cup. The Panthers return to the Anderson Tennis Center courts for the Spring 2023 season in February.
