In over 20 years, Marino has produced some of the finest tennis players Chapman has had since moving to Division III. Eight times Marino's singles players (men and women) became All-Americans and six times he has led the Panthers' women's team to the NCAA playoffs with regional berths in 2001 and 2007-11.

In 2018, Marino led the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year for the women's team. He turned around a program that finished near the bottom of the conference the previous two years to a fourth-place finisher in 2018 in the best Division III tennis conference in the nation. The lineup consisted entirely of freshmen.

The coaching award was the second award for Marino, who was also named the 2010 ITA West Region Coach of the Year.

In 2010, the Chapman women went deeper into the postseason than ever before, reaching the West Region championship match for the first time in school history.Then in 2014, a Chapman female duo advanced to the final eight in the national championship tournament.

From 2007-14, his women's team was consistently ranked among the Division III top-25, climbing as high as No. 12 in 2010. The Panthers entered the rankings again in 2018, reaching No. 30 and taking fourth in the SCIAC.

And in 2005, he reached new heights with the men's team, earning a national ranking of No. 22 and ranking No. 7 in the West Region, the first time the men's program has been nationally ranked since the 1980s.

Will came to Chapman in 1999 from the UC Irvine women's program, where he was an assistant coach for three years. He became most familiar with Chapman as an opponent of the Panthers from 1989-90 while playing singles and doubles for Cal State Bakersfield. While at CSUB, he was a two-time All-American in doubles, ranking as high as 25th in the nation in 1990.
