Goalie duo named to Capital One Academic All-District teams

They’ve made their water polo careers by keeping their opponents off the scoreboard, while on their own scoring with regularity in the classroom. Chapman University’s men’s and women’s aquatics programs placed a pair of goalies on the Capital One Academic All-District VIII At-Large teams on Friday, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Chapman University men's water polo team continued its ascent up the team grade point average leaderboard, placing sixth in the nation according to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

All-American Taylor Roszkos highlighted a group of 11 Chapman University men’s water polo players named to the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 school year.

Roszkos first team nod highlights Panther All-America selections

For the second consecutive season, Chapman University men’s water polo players Taylor Roszkos and Brett Carter have been recognized by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) as 2012 All-Americans. Roszkos becomes just the second Panther in school history to earn first team All-America honors, the first since Jeff Hall in 2004.

WWPA honors Carter for second consecutive year

Chapman University junior utility Brett Carter has been named to the All-Western Water Polo Association team for the second straight year, as voted on by the coaches of the WWPA. The junior becomes just the second Panther in school history to earn the honor multiple times.

After completing its first-ever season as a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference over the weekend, Chapman University men’s water polo had two players selected to the All-Conference team. Senior goalie Taylor Roszkos and junior utility Brett Carter were named to the All-SCIAC men’s water polo first and second teams, respectively.

Men's polo season ends with seventh-place finish at SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University men’s water polo team had to settle for seventh place at the SCIAC Championships Tournament, hosted by Whittier College over the weekend. As a result, the Panthers’ season came to an end as they were eliminated from contention for the Western Water Polo Association Championships, missing the tournament for the first time since 2007.

With its 15-9 road win over Whittier College on Saturday, the Chapman University men’s water polo team secured the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Men’s Water Polo Championships to be hosted by Whittier from Nov. 9-11 at the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center.

With a chance to put itself atop the SCIAC standings, the Chapman University men’s water polo team failed to hold a second half lead as the team dropped its match 10-9 to Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday afternoon at the Allred Aquatics Center.

The Chapman University men’s water polo team capitalized on six out-numbered scoring opportunities and made some timely defensive stops to defeat visiting University of Redlands 12-10 at the Allred Aquatics Center on Saturday in a SCIAC matchup.

Defense stifles La Verne in second half to earn 10-8 win

Led by a strong defensive effort, particularly in the second half, the Chapman University men’s water polo team defeated the University of La Verne 10-8 on Wednesday afternoon at the Allred Aquatics Center. After starting the season 2-12, Chapman has now won eight of its last 10 matches.

Calif. – The Chapman University men’s water polo team went 3-1 over the weekend at the Gary Troyer Tournament with wins over Fresno Pacific, Mercyhurst and Penn State Behrend, and have now won four of its last six games overall.

Early deficit sinks Chapman in home debut against Claremont

With nearly half the season over, the Chapman University men’s water polo team played its home-opener on Wednesday afternoon, but lost 13-8 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the Allred Aquatics Center. Chapman has a few days off before heading to the Gary Troyer Tournament hosted by CMS over the weekend.
