Roszkos, Carter named to All-SCIAC water polo team

ORANGE, Calif. – After completing its first-ever season as a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference over the weekend, Chapman University men's water polo had two players selected to the All-Conference team. Senior goalie Taylor Roszkos and junior utility Brett Carter were named to the All-SCIAC men's water polo first and second teams, respectively.

Roszkos, an ACWPC All-American in 2011, was the only goalie named to the All-SCIAC first team after making 226 blocks in 22 games for the Panthers. The senior posted a career-best goals-against average of 10.83 and also set a career-high with 53 steals, while leading Chapman to as high as a No. 2 ranking in Division III this season. Roszkos finished his career with 785 blocks, ranking second in school history.

Another All-America selection last year, Carter was the Panthers' top goal-scorer with a career-high of 70 this season and moved into fourth place in Chapman history with 149 career goals. The junior could also dish it out, ranking second on the team with 47 assists. Carter added career-highs with 29 steals and 25 earned ejections for Chapman, as well.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
