Men's water polo rolls by Occidental

After three consecutive one-goal matches to start the SCIAC season, the Chapman University men's water polo rolled to an 11-3 win over visiting Occidental on Wednesday. Senior Stephen Neil allowed just one goal through three quarters in the net.

While Neil and the Panthers (11-8, 3-1 SCIAC) limited the Tigers (2-15, 0-4 SCIAC) defensively, senior Willis Allen notched four goals to lead the Panther offense in the rout. Senior Garrett Aanestad and sophomore Jeff O'Brien each scored two goals to contribute to the offensive outburst.

The Panthers opened up the game early with three goals in the first quarter to grab the 3-0 lead. Four more goals in the second quarter made it 7-1 at halftime in favor of the home team. The Panthers kept rolling in the third with a 4-0 advantage in the stanza before Occidental found the net twice in the fourth.

Chapman heads to La Verne on Saturday before returning home for a three-game homestand, starting with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
