Allen's First Team nod leads All-American trio

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Willis Allen became just the third Panther in Chapman University men's water polo history to earn All-America first team honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), the organization announced on Wednesday. Allen's selection highlighted three Panthers selected to the All-American teams.

Senior goalie Stephen Neil and sophomore 2MD Jeff O'Brien received honorable mention for the first time in their careers.

Allen graduates from Chapman coming off a career-best season with 76 goals. The senior led the Panthers and ranked fourth in the SCIAC in goals scored overall ranked second in the SCIAC with 34 goals. The utility from Long Beach graduates ranking fifth in the CU record book with 148 goals and 99 assists.

Neil received honorable mention for the first time in his career. The goalie set a single season school record in 2015 with 291 blocks. Neil graduates ranking fourth overall in CU history with 662 blocks in his four-year career.

O'Brien ranked second on the team this season in three offensive categories: goals (52), shots (124), and steals (35). He also ranked sixth in the SCIAC in overall goals. The 2-meter driver also ranked second on the team with 11 multiple goal games, including a career-high six goals against University of La Verne on Oct. 10.

The ACWPC is comprised of college coaches from all over the country with a goal to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo. The members of the association vote to recognize players annually for their achievements in and out of the pool.
