O'Brien scores All-America honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Jeff O'Brien earned his second career All-America recognition from the American Water Polo Coaches Association. O'Brien was selected to the Second Team after earning Honorable Mention a year ago.

The Panthers' leading scorer from Newport Beach, Calif., was selected to the All-SCIAC first team in November. He scored 59 goals in just 21 matches this season, including 35 goals in 12 SCIAC matches.

Chapman's team captain also led the team on the defensive end with 67 earned ejections. He also had 25 steals while dishing out 14 assists.

O'Brien currently ranks seventh on Chapman's all-time scoring list with 142 career goals. He has posted back-to-back 50-goal seasons over his sophomore and junior seasons.

The ACWPC is comprised of college coaches from all over the country with a goal to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo. The members of the association vote to recognize players annually for their achievements in and out of the pool.
