Six Chapman University women’s softball players have been named to the Association of Division III Independents All-Independent team. Freshman C Michelle Pitts was named to the first team while five of her teammates were named to the second team.

Behind a no-hit, 12-strikeout performance from its pitching staff, the Chapman University softball team defeated visiting La Sierra University 8-0 on Sunday afternoon at Hart Park in the final regular season game for both teams. The Panthers snapped a six-game losing streak by scoring five times in the final two innings to earn a ‘run-rule’ victory for the fifth time this year.

Softball drops a pair to Vanguard

Visiting Vanguard University came into Hart Park and handed the Chapman University softball team its most lopsided defeat of the season in a doubleheader sweep of the Panthers on Thursday afternoon. The Lions captured the first game 16-2 and then won the second game 11-1. With the losses, Chapman will finish below .500 for the first time since 2002.

It was a day of firsts for the Chapman University softball team on Monday. The Panthers swept back-to-back doubleheaders for the first time this year defeating visiting Williams College (Mass.) 6-3 and 10-2 two days after taking a pair of wins from Cal Lutheran.

It’s been the story of their season so far. The Chapman University softball team can’t seem to get on a roll. For the sixth time this season the Panthers won one, lost one on Wednesday. Chapman lost to Hamline University (Minn.) 8-3, then defeated Carleton College (Minn.) 13-0 in a pair of games in the Sun West Tournament at Peralta Park.

Things are starting to shape up for the Chapman University softball team as it reached the midpoint of the season on Thursday. The Panthers claimed two victories against Greenville College (Ill.) and the University of Puget Sound (Wash.) in Sun West Tournament action.

The Chapman University softball team split a pair of games on the first day of the Sun West Tournament at Peralta Park on Monday. The Panthers defeated Grinnell College (Iowa) 8-1 in their opener, but fell to No. 12 Tufts University (Mass.).

A grand slam by junior IF Erin DeRycke propelled the Chapman University softball team to an 8-5 win over host Whittier College in the first game of a double header. However, a walk-off home run by Whittier’s Vicky Ovieda in the bottom of the seventh gave the Poets a 2-1 win in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon at Palmer Field.

The Chapman University softball team didn’t have a ton of hits, but when they came, they bunches and it was enough to sweep visiting Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in a home-opening doubleheader at Hart Park on Sunday afternoon.
