Seven softball players named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes

ORANGE, Calif. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced it's All-America Scholar Athletes and seven Chapman University softball players have earned the honor for 2010-11. As a team, Chapman ranked fourth in the West Region with a 3.335 cumulative grade-point average behind Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Linfield and 40th in Division III.

To qualify for NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Sophomore C Megan Daugherty was tops on the team with a 3.871 GPA while senior utility Carly Foerster and senior OF Jessica Mitchell along with junior OF Kerry Peterson all were over the 3.8 mark.

Also earning All-America Scholar Athlete are junior P Katie Terry (3.777), junior IF Alicia Tate (3.748) and sophomore utility Raquel Rinauro (3.647).

It is the second-consecutive season that Foerster, Mitchell, Peterson, Terry and Tate have been named NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.
