Pitts and Javier named All-West Region after career-best seasons

Both senior C Michelle Pitts and junior IF Kyla Javier had career-years for the Chapman University softball team in 2012, and both were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region teams which were announced on Monday. Both players are first-time selections as Pitts was selected to the second team while Javier earned third team.

Seniors lead the way as Chapman sweeps La Sierra in season finale

Each of the eight seniors on the Chapman University softball team earned hits in Sunday’s doubleheader against La Sierra University at El Camino Real Park as the team won both games 8-0 to end their season with a 22-13 record.

Split with Whittier gives Chapman its 20th win

The Chapman University softball team earned a doubleheader split with Whittier College on Friday afternoon at El Camino Real Park, defeating the Poets 4-3 in Game 1 before falling in the second game 5-1. The win gave the Panthers their first 20-win season since 2008 with just two games remaining.

Both teams earn come-from-behind wins as Chapman splits with Vanguard

Freshman RHP Cassie Oregel threw a complete-game and senior utility C.C. Daly had two RBI as the Chapman University softball team earned a split with Vanguard University on Tuesday afternoon at El Camino Real Park. Chapman won the first game 3-2 behind the play of Oregel, Daly, and senior C Michelle Pitts, but lost 4-2 in eight innings in the second game.

Top-ranked Linfield halts Chapman's win streaks

The No. 1 softball team in Division III came to Orange on Friday and put an end to a pair of winning streaks the Panthers had going. Top-ranked Linfield College (Ore.) handed the Chapman University softball team a pair of shutout losses 7-0 and 8-0 at El Camino Real Park to snap the Panthers’ seven game winning streak, as well as their six-game home winning streak.

The Chapman University softball team continued its winning streak, making it seven in a row, after defeating Webster (Mo.) University in both games of its doubleheader on Thursday night at El Camino Real Park. The Panthers won 10-3 in Game 1 and 11-3 in Game 2.

Pitching staff holds Puget Sound scoreless for doubleheader sweep

The Chapman University softball team shut out the University of Puget Sound in its doubleheader winning 7-0 and 13-0 at El Camino Real Park on Tuesday night. The Panthers have won their last five games which is their longest streak this season, and have won 10 of their last 12 overall.

Softball goes 5-1 at Tucson Invitational over the weekend

The Chapman University softball team went 5-1 over the weekend at the Tucson Softball Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., its lone loss coming to St. John Fisher (N.Y.) 7-4 on Saturday. The Panthers have now won eight of their last 10 games overall and have more wins in the first month of the 2012 season (11) than they had the entire 2011 season (9).

Lloyd surpasses 500-wins milestone with sweep of La Sierra

Head coach Janet Lloyd surpassed the 500-career wins mark on Saturday as the Chapman University softball team came away with a pair of dominant victories over La Sierra University at El Camino Real Park. Chapman hit four homers in the doubleheader as they won the first game 12-3 and followed that up with a 9-0 shutout.

No. 18 Claremont takes two from Chapman

The Chapman University softball team dropped a pair of games to No. 18 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday afternoon at El Camino Real Park, leaving head coach Janet Lloyd one win shy of 500 for her career. Claremont ran away with the first game 9-0 but had to come from behind in the second as they squeaked out a 2-1 win over Chapman.

Long day at work: softball earns split with Pacific

The Chapman University softball team earned a split with Pacific University on Sunday afternoon at El Camino Real Park as they lost 8-7 in a 3 ½ hour, nine inning game to start the day, and then rebounded with an 8-4 win in the second match-up which lasted nearly 2 ½ hours.
