Richards leads softball trio of NFCA All-West Region selections

ORANGE, Calif. – The postseason accolades continue to roll in for center fielder Jenny Richards and the pitching duo of Natalie Both and Cassie Oregel as the trio earned NFCA All-West Region honors in an announcement made by the association on Friday. Richards’ first team selection marks the first by a Panther since 2010 while Both and Oregel received third team honors.

Softball eliminated from SCIAC Tournament after pair of losses

The new kids on the block were bullied right out of the SCIAC Softball Tournament on Friday as Chapman University lost a pair of games to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 3-0 and host and top-seeded University of Redlands 5-2 at the Field of Dreams in Redlands.

Following an impressive 24-14 regular season, the Chapman University softball team had four players named to the 2013 All-SCIAC Softball team, including two first team selections. The Panthers made their mark in their first year as full-fledged members of the conference, adding a postseason berth to the four All-SCIAC selections announced by the conference on Friday.

ORANGE, Calif. - While the rest of campus begins preparations for final exams, Chapman University athletes will be tested early as they vie for SCIAC Championships in their respective postseason tournaments. In their first season of postseason eligibility, the following spring sports will look to add their names to join the women’s soccer team and swimmer Julie Case on the short list of Panther SCIAC Champions.

Pitching falters on 'Senior Day' as Panthers suffer doubleheader sweep

ORANGE, Calif.- In a preview of the SCIAC postseason tournament first-round matchup, the Chapman University softball team was swept by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a doubleheader Saturday at El Camino Real Park. The Panthers wrapped up their season with six straight losses, but will enter the postseason tournament as the No. 3 team, facing the Athenas on Friday in Redlands

Scoreless softball squashes Panthers' title hopes

In a doubleheader featuring two of the top-25 softball teams in the nation, visiting University of Redlands dashed Chapman University’s hopes of its first SCIAC championship, sweeping a pair of games 4-0 and 3-0 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon at El Camino Real Park.

Panthers strike early in doubleheader sweep of Whittier

A decisive run-rule victory in the second game highlighted the Chapman University softball team’s doubleheader sweep of the Whittier Poets on Friday at El Camino Real Park. Each of the Panthers 12 total runs on the day came in the first four innings as they completed the season series sweep of the Poets to improve their conference record to 17-5 with six games remaining in the regular season.

A Chapman University softball team that has been beating opponents with its pitching received a little bit of its own medicine on Tuesday night. The Panthers were shutout by visiting Williams College (Mass.) 2-0 in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader before rebounding with a 3-1 win in the nightcap at El Camino Real Park.

In the midst of her 19th season at the helm of the Chapman University softball team, head coach Janet Lloyd broke her father’s record to become the Panthers’ all-time coaching wins leader with a 4-3 win over Redlands on Saturday.

Twelve shutout innings by the Chapman University softball pitching staff, along with some timely hitting gave the Panthers a SCIAC doubleheader sweep 3-0 and 9-0 over visiting Occidental College on Friday afternoon at Hart Park. The second win gives Chapman head coach Janet Lloyd 534 career victories tying her with her father Lisle as the all-time winningest coaches in school history.

One day after sweeping Pomona-Pitzer at El Camino Real Park, the Chapman University softball team produced the same result on the same diamond, winning two games over visiting Stevens Institute (NJ) on Monday night. Sophomore Karina Muniz went 5-for-5, driving in six runs as the Panthers improved their season record to 14-2.

Strong starts by each club powered the Chapman University and Berry College (Ga.) softball teams to a doubleheader split at El Camino Real Park on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play. The host Panthers used a five-run third inning to win the first game 6-0, while the Vikings scored four first inning runs in the second game to win 7-2.
