Spring athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.

Trio of Panthers named to All-SCIAC softball team

A trio of Chapman University softball players were named to the 2015 SCIAC All-Conference Softball Team Thursday as selected by the coaches. Junior P Natalie Both, junior OF Gabrielle Leveratto and senior IF Taylor Cartwright headlined the Panthers’ All-Conference class, earning second team selection. Additionally, junior IF Larissa Rinauro received a sportsmanship award.

Rain spoils 'Senior Day' split with Cal Lu

April 25, 2015

The Chapman University softball team split with Cal Lutheran in its final SCIAC doubleheader of the regular season at El Camino Park on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Chapman shut out the Regals in Game 1 7-0, but Cal Lu scored 10 runs in the fourth inning of Game 2 to defeat Chapman 12-2.

Serven supplies walk-off single to earn split with La Verne

The Chapman University softball team split with La Verne in a SCIAC doubleheader at El Camino Park on Saturday afternoon. Chapman defeated the Leopards in eight innings in Game 1 3-2, but La Verne scored early in Game 2 to defeat Chapman 11-8.

Short-term memories help Chapman salvage split with 'Dogs

The Chapman University softball team rebounded from a lopsided defeat in Game 1 of a SCIAC doubleheader against visiting University of Redlands to earn a much-needed split in Game 2 on Friday afternoon at El Camino Real. The Panthers dropped the first game 20-5 before salvaging the final game with a 5-2 win. Redlands took three of four in the season series with Chapman.

The Chapman University softball team rebounded from a lopsided defeat in Game 1 of a SCIAC doubleheader against visiting University of Redlands to earn a much-needed split in Game 2 on Friday afternoon at El Camino Real. The Panthers salvaged the final game with a 5-2 win.

Panthers battle back in Game 2 to earn split with Whittier

The Chapman University softball team battled back in Game 2 with a three-run effort in the sixth to earn the split with first-place Whittier College in a SCIAC doubleheader at El Camino Park on Saturday afternoon. Chapman fell to the Poets in Game 1 4-2, but came from behind in Game 2 to defeat Whittier 4-3.

Weiser leads Panthers to split with Williams

The Chapman University softball team split with Williams College (Mass.) in a non-conference doubleheader at El Camino Park on Tuesday afternoon. Chapman fell to Williams 7-5 in Game 1, but bounced back for a walk-off 2-1 victory over the Ephs in Game 2.

No. 15 Claremont-M-S sweeps doubleheader from Chapman

March 20, 2015

The Chapman University softball team dropped a pair of games to No. 15-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 7-6 and 9-4 in a SCIAC doubleheader at El Camino Real Park on Friday. The Panthers made an upset bid in Game 1 with a six-run, sixth-inning rally, but couldn’t put the Athenas away in the seventh inning. Claremont then strung together back-to-back three-run innings in Game 2 to earn the sweep.

Softball splits with Ithaca (N.Y)

March 10, 2015

The Chapman University softball team split with Ithaca College (N.Y.) in a non-conference doubleheader at El Camino Park on Tuesday afternoon. Chapman defeated the Bombers in Game 1 3-1, but Ithaca scored early in Game 2 to defeat Chapman 7-3.

Softball earns first season sweep against Pomona-Pitzer

The Chapman University softball team earned its first sweep of the season over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in a SCIAC doubleheader at El Camino Park on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers shut out the Sagehens 4-0 in Game 1 and then defeated Pomona 5-2 in Game 2.

The Chapman University softball team split with Occidental College in a SCIAC doubleheader at El Camino Park on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers shut out the Tigers 8-0 in Game 1, but Occidental defeated Chapman 11-9 in Game 2.

The Chapman University softball team split with George Fox University in a non-conference doubleheader at El Camino Park on Friday afternoon. The Bruins came from behind to defeat the Panthers 5-3 in Game 1, but Chapman shutout George Fox 1-0 in Game 2.

Behind pitching, veteran softball squad aims to return to postseason

The Chapman University softball team will begin its 2015 season when it opens on Saturday in Thousand Oaks against Cal Lutheran University with 13 returning players. The roster includes seven starting position players from last year’s squad, along with perhaps the top two pitchers in SCIAC: junior RHP Natalie Both and senior RHP Cassie Oregel.
