Hartmann's gem garners SCIAC weekly honors

ORANGE, Calif. - Freshman Sarah Hartmann was selected as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week following a stellar week in the circle. Hartmann went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA in two games last week, including a crucial shutout Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Hartmann was lights-out in the circle, tossing 11 shutout innings during the Panthers' first game of the doubleheader against CMS. She allowed just five hits while striking out five and issuing just one walk. In the first nine innings of the game, Hartmann allowed just three runners to reach scoring position. Then, in the tenth, runners were placed on second due to SCIAC rules but still neither scored. The Dana Point native helped lead her team to a momentous 1-0 victory in the first game.

She picked up the win in the first game against Redlands after tossing four innings and allowing three runs. Opposing batters hit just .222 against her last week. The Panthers went 4-0 last week and came storming up the standings to claim the final spot in the SCIAC Tournament
