Softball recognized for academic achievement

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University softball team along with 11 individuals earned academic recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Panthers were one of 102 Division III teams to be recognized as an NFCA Academic Team.

As a team, the Panthers posted a 3.390 GPA through the 2017-18 school year. Chapman ranked 58th in Division III.

The Panthers also had 11 student-athletes honored for having a 3.5 GPA or above at the end the spring 2018 semester. Sarah Taketa led the Panthers with a 4.0 GPA during her senior year. Fellow senior Kristen Weiser was also among the 11 honored with a 3.9 GPA last year. The Panthers recognized also include: Hope Ballard, Madee Brunn, Erin Coogan, All-Region selection Michaela Foisy, Morgan Gallegos, Vanessa Gilles, Jordyn Krohn, Christine LoVerde and Heaven Wong.

The Panthers earned the team recognition for the 11th time in program history.
