Softball awarded for work in the classroom

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University softball team earned academic recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for its work in the classroom earlier this week. The Panthers rank 82nd out of 117 Division III schools with a team GPA of 3.344 and 15 student-athletes earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes accolades.

The 15 Chapman student-athletes honored for having a GPA of 3.5 or above is the most out of all the SCIAC schools.

Among those honored for leading the way in the classroom were seniors Elizabeth Runge, Sarah Sumida and Hope Ballard, juniors Morgan Gallegos, Sarah Hartmann, Christine LoVerde and Heaven Wong, sophomores Erin Coogan and Julia Galloway and freshmen Annika Briski, Jessica Kim, Emilee Mason, Kelly McCarty, Julia Muniz and Tracie Okumura.

This is the 12th time in program history that Chapman earned this prestigious award.
