Softball falls to Pomona-Pitzer
ORANGE, Calif — Softball lost a SCIAC matchup to the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Friday, Apr. 8, 11-1.
The Sagehens didn't get a hit until the fourth inning, but once they did they were on fire. Pomona-Pitzer scored four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three in the eighth en route to the victory.
Simi Lauwers started for the Panthers and was great, but a few bloop singles and a double brought the Panther deficit to a quick 4-0.
Offensively the Panthers never got it going. Chapman had four hits on the day, two from Sam Kennedy who ended 2-3. Julia Muniz drove in the lone Chapman run on a double to right field, scoring pinch runner Peyton Mattson.
The Panthers fell to 19-6 and 7-3 in SCIAC play following the loss. Pomona-Pitzer improved to 13-16 and 5-5.
Chapman will travel to Claremont tomorrow to take on the Sagehens in a double header at 12 and 2 p.m.
