Chapman women tune up for championships

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's swimming team defeated Caltech in its final regular season meet before the Pacific Coast Swim Championships later this month. The Panthers won by a score of 149-38 during a rainy event at the Allred Olympic Pool on Saturday.

Senior Edna Best led the Panthers with a pair of first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.05) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:30.03). Freshman Lisa Horn also captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard breaststroke and anchored the 400-yard medley relay team that also placed first.

Freshman distance swimmer Kristen Parker won the 500-yard freestyle and 1650-yard freestyle events and completed the second leg of Chapman's 400-yard freestyle relay that took first, as well.

The PCSC championships will be held in Belmont beginning Feb. 18.
