Case becomes first Panther to earn All-SCIAC honors in the pool

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University junior distance swimmer Julie Case has earned All-SCIAC honors after taking first place in the women's 1,650-yard freestyle on Tuesday at the conference championships at Splash! La Mirada. The SCIAC champion becomes the first Chapman swimmer ever to earn All-Conference honors.

Case, also the Panthers' first individual event SCIAC champion in school history, touched the wall first with a time of 17:32.22 in the 1,650 yards (1 mile) to land on top of the medal stand, and earning a 'B' cut qualification for the NCAA Division III national championships.

The junior, who also set a new Chapman record in the 200-yard freestyle at the championships (1:54.57), currently holds school records in the 200-, 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyle events. Along with two relay records she shares, Case is tied for the most individual (four) and total (six) school records in Chapman history.
