Women's relay team breaks record on day one of championships

LA MIRADA, CALIF. – The women's 200 medley relay team broke a Chapman record and freshman diver Kellyn Toole is in first place after the first day of the 2016 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships in La Mirada, Calif. Both the men's and women's teams are in eighth place after the first five events.

The women's 200 medley relay team highlighted the finals portion of the meet, taking fifth place for Chapman's highest finish of the day. Kristina Fong, Mary Welton, Rachel Isaacs and Martina Exlerova broke the school record with a 1:52.05.

The men's team took seventh in the 200 medley relay and ninth in the 800 free relay while the women's team took eighth in the 800 free relay.

Toole scored a 415.05 in the 1-meter diving preliminaries to lead the pack heading into tomorrow's finals.

The championship meet continues tomorrow with the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and women's 3-meter diving finals.
