Women still in fourth as three more school records fall

LA MIRADA, CALIF. – The Chapman University women's swimming & diving team held on to fourth place through the third day of the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Three more school records went down, bringing the meet total to six for Chapman.

Freshman Connor Broughton demolished his own school record in the 400 IM to take sixth in the event. He bettered his record time by over seven seconds, swimming a 4:08.06 in the prelims and a 4:08.18 in finals.

Freshmen Kristina Fong broke her second school record of the meet and took fifth in the 100 back. During prelims, Fong broke the school record by exactly two seconds with a 58.34 to qualify for finals. She went a 58.74 during finals to take fifth. Freshman Katie Blasing also made the 100 back finals and broke the 10minute mark with a 59.92 to take eighth.

The women's 400 medley relay team also broke a school record to take seventh. Blasing, Emily Taifer, Rachel Isaacs and Fong teamed up for a 4:03.89 to set the new standard at CU. The men's relay took ninth.

The SCIAC championships conclude tomorrow with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and 400 free relay. The women's 3-meter diving finals will also be tomorrow with freshman Kellyn Toole going in as the second seed after prelims.
