Crewe debuts with pair of school records

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman William Crewe made his Chapman debut with two school records in the first dual meet of the season for the Chapman University swimming & diving teams against Cal Lutheran. The Regals edged out a 112-109 team win in the women's dual while the Panther men fell 129-82.

Crewe began his Panther career with a school record in the 100 back while leading off the 400 medley relay in the very first event of the meet. Crewe beat Chapman's school record by nearly a second when he went out at a 52.33 – three seconds faster than his competitors. The relay finished third.

The freshman from Issaquah, Wash. won the 200 IM later in the day with another school records of 1:58.03, breaking the old school record by nearly one second. Later, he led a 1-2 finish for Chapman in the 200 back, finishing at 1:56.04 and missing that school record by just half a second.

Junior Kellyn Toole continued to impress on the diving boards by sweeping the diving events. She posted a NCAA regional qualifying mark with a winning score of 285.35 on the 3-meter board. She won the 1-meter with a 250.65. Freshman Simran Rajani took second in both events to make it a 1-2 Chapman finish.

Freshman diver Simon Duyungan swept the diving events on the men's side with a 225.25 on the 3-meter board and a 196.76 on the 1-meter. Freshman Ned Peterson took second in both events for Chapman.

Freshman Jailey Reeves recorded a pair of victories in her first dual meet as a Panther. She won the 200 breast with a time of 2:34.10 and swam the breaststroke leg of the women's winning 400 medley relay team. The Panthers won the first relay event with a time 4:11.21.

Junior Sadie Wiens won the women's 200 IM with a 2:19.92.

Chapman travels to Pomona-Pitzer next Saturday for a tri-meet with the Sagehens and Whittier.
