221 Panthers honored as SCIAC All-Academic

Chapman University’s student-athletes matched their record number with 221 SCIAC All-Academic selections in for the 2018-19 school year. The Panthers had the fourth-most selections of the nine schools in the SCIAC.

Recently graduated Kellyn Toole made it a clean four-year sweep as a College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American. After three recognitions as Honorable Mention, Toole qualified for the First Team list after her senior year.

Chapman University Athletics announced its annual senior departmental awards at the Sports Appreciation Jog-a-Thon earlier this afternoon. The department awarded both male and female Student-Athlete of the Year awards as well as male and female Leadership Awards.

Senior diver Kellyn Toole made history for the second time in just as many days as she qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in the 1-meter board on Saturday afternoon. Toole took first place in the event to qualify for both diving championships.

Senior Kellyn Toole has rewritten Chapman’s diving record book in the last four years and added to her legacy in her final trip to the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships. Toole placed third on the 3-meter board on Friday to qualify for next week’s NCAA Division III Championships.

Four records fall in final day of SCIAC Championships

Three school records fell as the men’s and women’s swim teams finished up their 2018-19 seasons on the final day of the SCIAC Championships. The women finished in fifth place overall with a total score of 413.50 while the men took seventh with a score of 287.50.

Sophomore Jailey Reeves narrowly beat her own school record and the Chapman University swim teams saw three Panthers swim in the championship finals on day three of the SCIAC Championships. The women’s team heads into the final day in fifth place with 297 points while the men are in seventh place with 210.5 points.

Two school records fell and the women’s 200 free relay team reached the podium on day of the SCIAC Swimming Championships in Commerce, Calif. After two days, the women’s team sits in fourth place in the team standings and men’s team is in seventh.

The Chapman University men’s and women’s swim teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the SCIAC Championships earlier this evening. After five events, the women’s team sits in third place and the men’s team is tied for sixth place.

Senior Kellyn Toole wrapped up the 2019 SCIAC Diving Championships with a fourth-place finish on the 3-meter board on Sunday. The senior finished in the top-4 in every SCIAC event of her career and will dive on both boards at the NCAA Regionals.

For the fourth time in her career, senior Kellyn Toole won a SCIAC diving title. Toole captured the title on the 1-meter board on the first day of the SCIAC Diving Championships on Saturday.

Swim & dive falls to Occidental in final dual meet

The Chapman University men and women’s swim teams lost to Occidental in their final dual meet of the season on Saturday. However, the Panthers had several standout performances during the meet, earning multiple first and second place finishes. Ultimately, the men’s team fell 175-80, and the women’s team fell 221-48.
