Swim & dive concludes fall schedule at Collegiate Winter Invite

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University swimming & diving teams finished up their fall semester schedule at the Collegiate Winter Invite. Freshman Hannah Parulan and sophomore Olivia Guarino had the top individual finishes for the Panthers.

Parulan had a pair of top-10 finishes in the field of swimmers from Biola, Westmont, Concordia (CA), Chapman and La Verne. She swam a personal-best of 59.09 in the 100 fly to take second place in the event. She had swam a 59.81 in the morning prelims but moved up to second while dropping nearly three-quarters of a second in finals. She also placed sixth in the 100 back with a 1:00.63.

Guarino took second overall on the 1-meter diving board. Her score of 187.60 was 10 points higher than freshman teammate Mina Cannon.

The men's 200 medley relay began the day on a high note as the Panthers just beat Concordia's A-team to the wall with a 1:36.75. Junior William Crewe led off the relay and was followed by sophomore William Cho, sophomore Brandon Leu and senior Dominic DelliQuadri.

Crewe went on to take third in the 100 back with a 53.11 and Cho took fifth in the 400 IM with a time 4:09.78 Sophomore Omar Insignares beat out Crewe and Leu for fifth place in the 100 fly with all three finishing within one-tenth of a second. Insignares led the close finish with a 53.03.

Both women's relay teams in the 200 medley and 800 free took fourth place while the men's 800 free relay team also took fourth. Junior Gillian Logan swam a 4:40.81 to take sixth by a narrow margin in 400 IM.

The Panthers will take a break from competition for finals and the holiday but return to the water on Jan. 11 at Redlands before hosting the final tree dual meets of the year.
