Podium finish, two school records highlight day one of SCIACs

ORANGE, Calif. – Two school records fell and the women's 800 free relay finished on the podium on the first day of the SCIAC Championships. With the third-place finish, the women are in third place in the team standings while the men are in sixth.

The third-place women's 800 free relay team was led off by senior Molly Davis and followed by freshman Riley Brownfield, senior Teresa Gerhold and freshman Hannah Parulan. Their time of 7:44.64 demolished the mark set two years ago by over five seconds.

The men's 800 free relay team of senior Dominic DelliQuadri, freshman Michael Garza, freshman Chase Bradshaw and sophomore William Cho did some record-setting of their own with a 7:04.34. Chapman tied for sixth in the event.

The other event of the night was the 200 medley relay with the men's "A" team taking fifth and the women taking sixth. The men's team was less than a second of the school record set last year.

The SCIAC Championships continue tomorrow with the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 200 free relay.
