Spring athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.

Junior sprinter Fiona Chu continues to break her own school record in the women's 400 meter and lead the Chapman University men's and women's track and field team as the Panthers displayed a competitive showing at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3 in Claremont on Saturday afternoon.

Track polishes up heading into final SCIAC meets

The Chapman University men’s and women’s track teams notched a handful of personal records at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, serving as a tune up before the final two SCIAC meets of the season. The Panther sprinters led the way, along with junior Maria Belen Meza, who set a career-high in the triple jump at Strehle Track.

Standout performances highlight Panthers' meet at Occidental

The Chapman University men’s and women's track and field team hit the track on Saturday in the second SCIAC multi-dual meet of the year, this time at the Bill Henry Track at Occidental. The Panthers lost to three teams in the field (Cal Lutheran, Occidental, and Redlands), but defeated Caltech while recording a few notable performances.

Pair of distance relay records fall at Rossi Relays

The Chapman University women’s track team broke a pair of distance relay school records at the Rossi Relays on Saturday at the Burns Track & Field Complex, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers set new marks in the 4x800 relay and the distance medley, highlighting a day also with many personal records for Chapman.

The Chapman University men’s and women’s track and field team is set to open its 2015 season at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers meet on Feb. 21. The All Comers meet is the first of two meets preceding the Panthers’ first conference competition at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #1 on March 7.
