Sprinters display competitive showing at SCIAC Multi-Dual #3

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Junior sprinter Fiona Chu continues to break her own school record in the women's 400 meter and lead the Chapman University men's and women's track and field team as the Panthers displayed a competitive showing at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3 in Claremont on Saturday afternoon.

Chu once again paced her own school record in the 400-meter dash with a career-best of 58.68. The junior also led the Panthers in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 26.58.

Freshman Nicole Greenberg finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a mark of 13.13, out-sprinting sophomore teammates Alex Bliss and Alyssa Bliss who finished fourth and fifth behind Greenberg respectively. The freshman also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a career-best 27.08, just .5 seconds behind Chu.

Sophomore Michiko Yee exhausted her season best by seven seconds with a career-low mark of 5:05.94 in the women's 1500 meter while junior Mabe Meza had a season-best performance in the triple jump with a mark of 10.12 meters.

On the men's side, sophomore sprinter Johnny Michalik placed fifth in the 100-meter dash setting a season low of 11.21 seconds and sixth in the 200-meter with a mark of 23.29. Sprinter Mitchell Bouldin finished just .6 seconds behind Michalik for sixth place with a mark of 11.27.

In the long distance events, junior Chris Reid finished fourth overall in the 300 meter steeplechase with a career-best time of 10.22.76 and set another career-best in the 500 meter run with a final time of 16.27.45.

Chapman will travel to Eagle Rock on May 1-2 for the SCIAC Championships.
