Panthers open strong at All Comers Invite

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's and women's track and field team toed the lined up for the starting gun on the Strehle Track at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The Panthers opened up their season strong with several freshmen impressing in their debut meet.

Sophomore Mitchell Bouldin had a strong start in his early season competition placing fourth in the long jump with a final mark of 6.59 meters. Bouldin was among the top sprinters as well, crossing the line in the top-20 of the 100-meter dash earning an 11.24 finish and among the top-30 in his first time competing in the 200-meter dash with a final time of 23.06.

Leading the Panthers in the 400 meter dash was freshman Philip Bui who finished 22nd with a final time of 52.10.

Junior Sam Baker paced Chapman in the 1000-meter crossing the line in 2:41.43 to finish in the top-25.

On the women's side, senior Lauren Deats highlighted the Panthers in the 100 with a final time of 13.48. Deats also paced Chapman in the 200 with a final time of 27.97.

Sophomore Gina Pasquinelli led the Panther jumpers finishing in the top-20 overall in the long and high jump. Paquinelli's high jump at 1.45 meters was good enough for a three-way tie with competitors from Occidental and Southwestern, while her long jump of 4.86 meters earned her a 14th place finish.

Freshmen Josie Chan and Mia Hernandez opened strong for the Panthers in their debut meet. Chan led the Panthers in the triple jump securing a place in the top-10 with a final mark of 10.47 meters, while Hernandez headed Chapman's long distance team in the 1000 with a final time of 3:27.33.

The Panthers will travel to Claremont on Saturday, Feb. 27 for the Rossi Relays Invitational set to begin at 11 a.m.
