Bouldin takes second in long jump at SCIAC Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Junior Mitchell Bouldin became the first All-SCIAC finisher in Chapman's men's track & field history to lead the Chapman track & field teams at the first day of the SCIAC Championships.

Bouldin placed second in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.95 meters, becoming the first men's Panther to reach the podium at the men's track & field championships. Bouldin also qualified for tomorrow's final in the 100 meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 11.13.

Senior Lauren Deats also qualified in the women's 200 meter dash. She placed seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 26.10. She took 11th in the 100 meter dash.

More top finishers for the Panthers, included a pair of ninth-place finishers who just missed out on qualifying for finals. Freshman Philip Bui took ninth in the 800 meter run with a personal-best 1:57.81. On the women's side, freshman Courtney Justus took ninth in the 100 meter hurdles with a 16.96. Justus was also 11th in the high jump.

Freshman Mia Hernandez was the 12th and final qualifier for finals in the 1500 meter run, finishing at a time of 5:16.86. She'll join Deats and Bouldin in the finals heats tomorrow.
