Chan breaks school record on final day of SCIAC Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -The Chapman University men's and women's track and field teams finished eighth at the SCIAC Track & Field Championships at the Bill Henry Track on Saturday afternoon. One school record fell on the women's side to highlight the day.

Freshman Josie Chan broke a Chapman record with a triple jump mark of 10.81 meters to take sixth place for the highest individual finish on the women's side. Chan's jump broke the mark of 10.73 meters previously set by Courtney Postlethwait in 1997. Freshman Courtney Justus finished right behind her in eighth with a final mark of 10.52 meters.

Senior Lauren Deats paced the Panthers in the 200 meter dash with a season-best mark of 26.37 to take eighth place.

Freshman Gigi Vujovich and junior Cathryne Ramirez paced the Panthers in the 5000 meter run finishing in the top 20. Vujovich finished 18th with a final time of 20:04.33, while Ramirez was less than a second behind her with a final time of 20:05.17 to finish 19th.

On the men's side, junior Mitchell Bouldin earned seventh in the 100 meter dash with a finals time of 11.15. It was the second event in which he earned points for the Panthers, giving him a total of 10 after his second-place finish in the long jump on Friday.

Up next, the Panthers will travel to Eagle Rock, Calif. for the Oxy Invitational on Saturday, May 7.
