Miller breaks school record, both teams take eighth at SCIAC Championships

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Lauren Miller broke the second school record of the weekend and both track & field teams took eighth at the SCIAC Championships. The Panthers finished ahead of Caltech in both standings to send off 24-year head coach Anna Wlodarczyk, who will be retiring this summer.

Miller record-breaking performance came in the shot put with a throw of 11.35 meters (37 feet, 3 inches). She placed fifth in the event to score points for the women's team and broke Chapman's 30-year old school record in the process. The record was previously held by Millie Lewis with a heave of 11.22 meters (36 feet, 10 inches).

The women's 4x400 meter relay team took eighth with a time of 4:25.00. Both of the men's 4x100 meters and 4x400 meters relay teams ran well with the 4x100m sprinting to a time of 43.62 in seventh place and the 4x400m team running a 3:31.07 in eighth.

Wlodarczyk was also honored by her fellow SCIAC coaches following her final meet. The Olympian long jumper helped Chapman's long jumper Mitchell Bouldin break the Panthers' 79-year old long jump school record yesterday as part of her final meet. His jump ranks 18th in all of Division III.
